Managing Editor

OVERVIEW:
The Managing Editor is an integral part of the team that tells the Beautycon story day in and day out. With a platform agnostic approach, the Managing Editor works with the Content and Creative teams to develop and execute editorial and partner content that continues to redefine Beauty through the lens of self-expression. This role requires an eye for storytelling through visual, written and video content. You must possess a distinct point of view, be a skilled writer, a highly motivated self-starter, a team player, and someone with a positive attitude that isn’t afraid of change. In this role you will be required to manage other people, work across teams and constantly push yourself and Beautycon forward.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Pitch, write, and produce content across the Beautycon verticals of beauty, style, culture, self-care, tech and more.
  • Work with the Editorial Director and Executive Producer to build and maintain Editorial Calendar with a focus on data/analytics, content type and distribution platform.
  • Work with content team to schedule assets
  • Meet and exceed daily and monthly traffic/engagement goals across social/content platforms
  • Translate data/analytics, marketplace trends, and content performance results into action - using information to drive new ideas, pivot existing ones and deliver on goals.
  • Source external content contributors including writers, visual artists, etc.
  • Oversee original content shoots in collaboration with the production team
  • Conduct photo, video and/or design research as it pertains to pitching and executing content
  • Collaborate with Sales & Partnership team to ideate content ideas for partners and execute sold ideas, maintaining the Beautycon voice in partnership with a brand.
  • Contribute content leading up to, during and after live events from Beautycon festivals to cultural events, award shows, etc.
  • Represent Beautycon at market events, meetings, sales calls, and in videos, as needed
  • Be obsessed with the GenZ/Millennial audience and constantly on the look for new ways to communicate with them.
  • Provide weekly and monthly competitive insight to creative/content team in partnership with key editorial team members.
